The Lorax Declares That the Word “Field” is Racist
The Trees - The Lorax, Speaker for the Trees, sent a letter to the Once-ler declaring it would no longer use the word “field” when referring to an open land area free of woods. Instead, the Lorax is replacing it with the word “Truffula.”
Why the change? Racism, and Once-ler supremacy.
The Lorax said, “I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.” The Lorax further explained, “this change supports anti-racist social work by replacing language that could be considered anti-Tree in favor of more tree inclusive language. Language can be powerful, and phrases such as 'going into the field' or 'field work' may have connotations for chopping down trees as fast as you please!”
In solidarity with Truffula trees across the nation, the goal of the Lorax is not just to change the language but to honor and acknowledge tree inclusion and reject Once-ler supremacy. This is the bedrock of the Lorax’s values and principles to hold Once-lers accountable to do better.
In the words of the Lorax, “unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot nothing is going to get better it's not.” The Lorax then sadly lifted himself into the air leaving behind a stone platform engraved with the word “UNLESS.”
Meanwhile, “catch!” called the Once-ler supremacist complicit in his current injustice. The tree racist lets the last Truffula Tree fall, the last one of all!
Hold the Once-ler supremacists accountable to do better. Get woke, plant a new Truffula, treat it with care. Give it clean water, and feed it fresh air. Grow a inclusive forest. Protect it from the oppression of axes that hack. Then the Lorax and all of his friends in BLM may come back.
